She likes acting, and now Mbuleh Wadda is turning her attention to Senegalese television. The actress is starring in a new TV drama called Njumteh.

Read below our interview with Mbuleh:

What’s On-Gambia: Tell us briefly about yourself?

Mbuleh: Hmmmm my name is Mbuleh Wadda from the smiling coast of The Gambia, born and raised and now resides in the United States. I went to Ndow’s Comprehensive, and a mother to a beautiful 5 year old daughter.

When and why did you move to the US?

I moved to the US in 2003 to further my education.

How did you get started in acting?

Let’s just say acting is a passion that I possessed. It started about two years ago when I was dining at a restaurant. A young producer approached me to star in his show Jollywood Life, which was aired on TFM earlier this year and it's also on YouTube. So Njumteh is my second project so far, and others are on the way InShaaAllah.

What character do you play in Njumteh?

I played one of the main characters, Meya, a loving and caring wife.

Elaborate please.

Okay, like I said I played Meya, a loving and caring wife who joined her lovely husband in the US. On getting to the US and witnessing the struggles he's going through, as an illegal immigrant, Meya sets out to help her husband achieve the American dream. But things didn't go as planned. Did it cost her marriage or her life? I guess you will have to watch the drama to find out!

Do you follow the Gambian film industry?

Yes I do! I would say that we are trying and I can also see that we are very passionate about the roles we play.

What projects do you have coming up?

InShaaAllahwe will start working on Njumteh Part 2 very soon.

Any final words?

Ya Allah dafa buga jaam bu nango legai, kon yalna nu japali the youths wherever we are moi Gambia wala fene mai nu werr ak jama.

Gambia jem kanam, Senegal jem kanam, Africa yep jem kanam.
