Have you heard the rumour that former president Yahya Jammeh is planning to visit The Gambia next month to celebrate his birthday?
One of his supporters in Brikama told What’s On-Gambia: “We are preparing for his return. He’s coming to celebrate his birthday with us. Nobody can stop that!”
The former president, who fled to Equatorial Guinea shortly after losing the presidential election in December, is still popular in some parts of the country. His pictures continue to appear on houses, lamp-poles, wherever there is space to depict him.
In last week’s parliamentary elections, Jammeh’s party, APRC managed to secure 5 seats in West Coast Region.
In the Kanifing Municipality, although they didn’t win a seat, they bagged 12,989 votes.
The APRC executive committee wouldn’t comment on the former president’s rumoured visit.
