Sam Taal Global Foundation is building a new health centre in Tankular, Kiang West.
The laying of the foundation stone and ground blessing ceremony, which was attended by the district chief, was held recently at the site.
Named after the village, the health centre when completed will provide among other things outpatient and inpatient care, laboratory services, physical screenings and X-rays.
The founder and coordinator of the foundation, Famara Taal said: “It will be a one stop shop for most healthcare needs.”
He added: “Our anticipated date of completion is by January 2020. Meaning we hope to have it up in running by then. It could be sooner all depending on donors and funds.”
According to the US-based philanthropist, the estimated cost of the project is more than D2.5m.
The project is primarily being funded my myself/foundation with the help of several supporters and donors here in the USA. We raise money doing several charitable events.”
Sam Taal Global Foundation is a non-profit foundation with its focus on activities which benefit the Kiangka village of Tankular.
