One of the Senegal’s most famous media proprietors, El Hadj Ibrahima Ndiaye has been linked to QTV.
According to rumours reaching What’s On-Gambia, he is the co-owner of the private TV channel which was launched last week by President Adama Barrow in the presence of his Sierra Leonean counterpart, Ernest Bai Koroma.
Mr Ndiaye, who also owns Senegal’s 2sTV, was in the country to witness the ceremony. He was accompanied by his wife and some of his staff including controversial journalist Pape Ale Niang.
“QTV could be a sister channel to 2sTV, but this is yet to be revealed by Muhammed Jah, who many claimed is the sole proprietor. Let’s see if they would make an announcement in the coming weeks,” said a source.
QTV is the first private TV channel in The Gambia. However, according to Information Minister, Demba A. Jawo, there are two other TV applications currently being reviewed by PURA.
