Gambian-British family’s rental house burglarized, money and personal items stolen

A Gambian-British family has become the latest to fall victim to a terrifying home burglary as they were enjoying their holiday in The Gambia.

The property they were renting in Brufut was broken into while they were asleep last week, and the burglars managed to get away with mobile phones, food items and more than two thousand pounds.

According to a member of the family, Steve Coombes, one of the burglars, who was their gateman,  was armed with a knife and shouting various threats before he left.

“We did not see other people on the property but there would have been two or three because many items were passed out the window and taken out the front door. All of the food was taken including baby food,” he said.

Steve revealed the incident was reported to the police and the gateman was arrested but later released for reasons they still don’t know.

The Coombes family was in The Gambia on holiday.
