School egg business grows to become major producer

Over a relatively short period, a school egg farm in the West Coast Region has grown to be one of the largest egg producers in The Gambia.

Mansa Colley Bojang School produces more than 400 eggs each day. It’s a role that the school proprietor Muctarr Bojang (Bucki) and his students are not taking lightly.

He told What’s On-Gambia: “With the farm, we generate income for the school, which is used to support our students. They help run the farm and it offers them the opportunity to learn valuable skills in animal husbandry, business and teamwork.”

According to him, their eggs can be found at most shops in Brikama, where the school is located. They also sell to supermarkets and restaurants in the Tourism Development Area (TDA).

The Mansa Colley Bojang School, which has more than 500 students, was founded in 2010 with support from different philanthropists in Europe.
