The mayoral candidates for the Kanifing Municipal Council recently appeared on Keur Fatou to discuss a variety of topics, including how they intend to rebuild public trust and run a transparent administration if elected.
But Taliba Bensouda refused to turn up, and the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) decided not to broadcast the program.
The UDP candidate, who many accused of taking Kanifing voters for granted, allegedly wanted a one-on-one rather than ‘squabbling’ with other candidates. This was rejected by Keur Fatou.
A source told What’s On-Gambia: “GRTS, which is headed by a UDP member, refused to broadcast it because Talib was not on it.”
Bakary Badjie (independent), Pa Njie Girigara (GDC) and Papa Njie (independent) all appeared to discuss their ideas for what the municipality needs and why they are the ones who can accomplish the task.
Many GRTS viewers, who wanted to tune in to listen to the candidates, were disappointed. Some of them took to social media to slam the national broadcaster.
