President Adama Barrow is allegedly doing everything possible to silence his critics as he prepares to establish his own political party to avoid being a one-term president. Here are some of the people whose names might have been taken to the marabouts:
Dr Ismaila Ceesay
A lecturer at the University of The Gambia, Dr Ceesay was once arrested for questioning Barrow's ability to maintain national security in a newspaper interview.
He is the vice president and leader of the UDP. Ousainou and members of his party are not ready to endorse barrow’s rumoured bid for re-election.
Hon. Alhagie S. Darboe
He is the UDP National Assembly Member for Brikama North. Darboe knows a lot of deep secrets about President Barrow’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Hon. Sanna Jawara
He is the UDP National Assembly Member for Upper Fulladu West. Sanna was the NAM who disclosed that the president was handing out “brown envelopes” to some of his colleagues.
Dr Amadou Scattred Janneh
Based in the USA, he is planning to establish his own political party. Dr Janneh is a staunch critic of the Gambian leader.
He is another staunch critic of Barrow and his government. Madi recently appealed to Gambians not to allow the president to become a despot.
A former minister, Sidi is one of the most popular Gambian bloggers. He disclosed on Sunday that rampant corruption and brazen incompetence are among the country’s greatest enemies of progress.
He is the leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress. Barrow wants to get rid of him and his party so that he can be the only prominent political leader from Jimara.
A former presidential adviser, Yusupha is now a staunch critic of his former boss. He is a prominent member of the UDP.
He recently lost his job at the OIC secretariat after criticising the Gambian leader. A university lecturer, Almami is the spokesman of the UDP.
