Should UN boss apologise for falling asleep during Barrow's speech?

While President Adama Barrow was delivering his State of the Nation Address last week, the UN Resident Coordinator in The Gambia was caught falling asleep.

Seraphine Wakana was invited to the event at the National Assembly by the Government of The Gambia.

Seated next to the European Union ambassador, Attila Lajos, the UN Resident Coordinator was seen dozing off as President Adama Barrow renewed his administration's commitment to the development of the country.

Some social media users pointed out that Seraphine was struggling to stay awake. In contrast, the EU ambassador appeared alert and his eyes were wide open as he listened to Barrow's every word.

Should Seraphine apologise for her blunder?

A source in Banjul said her conduct last week have the potential to undermine the government's confidence in her.

The Burundian-born became the UN Resident Coordinator last year. She's unquestionably one of the most influential diplomats in the country.
