The Gambia has introduced visa-free travel for citizens from more than 100 countries.
In a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citizens from England, Sweden, Finland, South Africa, Nigeria, Latvia, Russia and other countries in Europe and Africa can enter the country without a visa for tourism purposes.
The press release also stated that Belgian citizens are allowed to travel to The Gambia with their Identity Cards.
The new policy came to effect last month, according to an insider at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A source disclosed to What's On-Gambia that the visa-free policy aims at increasing the number of tourists and foreign investors. He also said it will contribute to the creation of a favourable investment climate in the New Gambia.
Previously, most visitors to The Gambia had to pay for a visa upon arrival at the Banjul International Airport.
