Do you recognize this lovely girl above? She is Maria Sawaneh, the current Miss West Africa –Gambia. But on the 31st January, 2014, Maria will hand over the crown to a new beauty queen.Â
A group of beautiful girls, seven constants to be exact, will compete on Friday night for the crown at the Coco Ocean Resort & Spa, Senegambia.Â
The girls have been busy preparing for the final show down. They’re from different parts of the Greater Banjul Area.Â
One of them is Mariam Kharagne Lo Bassen, a former student of SOS Hermann Gmeiner. She wrote on Facebook: “I’m contesting in the MISS WEST AFRICA GAMBIA 2014, urging on all my friends, family and loved ones to come out in large numbers and support me!!â€Â
The coordinator of the pageant, Ida Bidwell said: “The winner will go on to represent The Gambia in Nigeria for the finals of the Miss West Africa International, with over 22 African countries participating.â€Â
The main act for the evening is rap-mbalax star, Bai Babu a.k.a Brain Kracker. Percussionist Sheikh Faal is also booked to make an appearance.
