British-Gambian music promoter Jakob Gambiano has confirmed that Afro-Manding star Nyancho will soon return to The Gambia, ending weeks of speculation over whether the musician would make the trip home.
Jokob, a close friend of Nyancho, made the announcement in a Facebook post on Monday, although he did not disclose the exact date of his arrival.
“Are you ready for the arrival of Jakob Gambiano and Nyancho in The Gambia? The countdown has officially begun,” he wrote.
“We honestly can’t wait to feel that Gambian sun, see the beautiful people, taste the food and once again feel that special energy that only home can give you.
“They say home is where the heart is — and for us, a big piece of our hearts will always belong to The Gambia.”
But Jakob did not provide further details about their travel plans or confirm whether Nyancho is scheduled to perform at any shows during the visit.
Since the release of his politically charged song “Wulolu,” there has been speculation among some fans that the singer could face arrest if he returns to The Gambia.
The song, which has surpassed two million views on YouTube, addresses allegations of corruption and maladministration under President Adama Barrow’s government.
