A true beauty: Introducing Gambian model Fatou Khan


She was Miss Super National Africa 2010 and Miss Exclusive of the World 2011. Her name is Fatou Khan, born and brought up in Sweden with parents from The Gambia.

“Swagged out the sexiness with passion,” is her favourite expression.

The swag girl’s career took off at the age of 14. She is one of the most well-known Swedish models with Gambian roots.  She has the ability to look great in a picture. Unlike many models in Sweden, she carries both European and African garments perfectly well.

 

In 2009, Fatou decided to move to the United Kingdom to try new opportunities. She was noticed by Nana Tamakloe and Direct Model, both active in the London modelling industry.  The young model succeeded in securing a deal with Nana Tamakloe and they invited her to take part in the Miss West Africa-UK Pageant.

After a one- year stay in London, she moved back to Stockholm and started working with a new manager, Peter Haward. Under Peter’s leadership, Fatou took part in one of Europe’s biggest beauty pageants – Miss Super National 2010, in Poland. Sixty six countries were represented and Fatou was crowned as Miss Super National Africa. The pageant took her to different Polish cities and was featured by different media houses.

Currently, she is studying in Malmö University. Fatou’s hobbies include dancing. She was part of a dance group called Killa Dancers in Stockholm. According to her, she is planning to write a book about her experience as a black girl growing up in a Swedish society.
