Jeane Marie Mendy has reportedly pulled the plug on her budding modeling career and most of her friends in the industry are pretty shocked.

The Senegalese-born model has allegedly decided she wouldn’t walk the runway anymore. This unconfirmed rumour came after What’s On-Gambia picked up on the photo of her sporting some underarm hair during the Gambia Fashion Night.

“She was not happy with some of the negative comments the photo generated. I heard she was very upset with the photographer that took the photo. And now she seems not interested in modeling. She doesn’t want to be in the spotlight again,” said a source close to her.

Jeanne Marie, who was seemingly unable to handle the hairy armpit disaster, is one of the most sought after home-based models. She has more than three years of experience working in the fashion industry.

The young model is yet to publicly confirm or deny the rumour. She recently posted on Facebook a photo of herself at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dakar.

Meanwhile, model Jainaba Ceesay is still in Stockholm, Sweden lobbying for a modeling contract.

“I got a contract with Event Italia but not yet signed. I can go back to Gambia at anytime,” she told What’s On-Gambia.

She is staying with her sister in the Swedish capital. Jainaba started her modeling career at the age of 19. She has taken part in international runway shows like the Elite International Model Look, Festival du Selingue and Gambia Fashion Night.
