Thomas De Beule is a Gambian-based Belgian event and music promoter. He’s well known for organizing concerts for sprouting reggae singers.Â
Originally from Antwerp, one of the Belgium’s largest cities, the 20-year-old is currently living in Bakau. His events are always aimed at bringing people together to celebrate peace, music and togetherness in classic rasta style.Â
In this interview, Thomas tells us more about himself and his activities in The Gambia:Â
What’s On-Gambia: Can you tell us a little about yourself?Â
Thomas: My name is Thomas De Beule known as Imos. I am 20 years of age, a Rastafarian by nature. Â At the age of fifteen my dream was Mama Africa.Â
Would you mind to also tell us about your first visit in The Gambia and how you fell in love with the smiling coast?Â
I was here January 2013, for the Back To Africa Festival and stayed for 3 weeks, the atmosphere was conducive. The Gambia is the smiling coast of Africa. The strength in unification inspired me to set up a promotional group Little Zion in The Gambia.Â
Are you in a relationship?Â
Love is unique.Â
Now coming to Little Zion, what is it all about?Â
Little Zion Movement is a promotional group here in The Gambia to empower youths in development through entertainment. The youths are the future leaders of tomorrow.Â
What are Little Zion’s unique strengths and do you think your group can bring change in the country's entertainment industry?Â
Personally, I foresee Little Zion as more than a movement, the people are our source of strength and with their support I’m confident we can take Gambian music to the next level.Â
What type of events do you think are the most popular in The Gambia currently?Â
Perhaps entertainment, reggae parties/concerts with Gambian DJs like Fireman, Pisces and Mutabaruka. In The Gambia you can hear reggae music almost everywhere, something I love about the country.Â
Do you think our entertainment industry needs further development?Â
Yes, there is a lot that needs to be done at the entertainment sector.Â
What types of activities are you organizing at the moment?Â
Early December, we are organizing a reggae party in Bakau. There are a lot of events coming up early next year - follow us on our Facebook page for more info.Â
