A football fan in Brufut, Kebba Kinteh, has named his newborn son after Spanish and Barcelona star Lamine Yamal.
Kebba was overjoyed when his wife, Fatoumatta Jallow, gave birth to a baby boy. Without hesitation, he told his wife that he wanted to name their son after the young football sensation.
Speaking to What’s On-Gambia, Kebba’s brother revealed that the decision was no surprise to the family, saying Kebba has been a huge admirer of Yamal for some time.
“He named his son after Lamine Yamal because he likes him a lot. He has always been telling people that whenever he has a son, he would name him after him,” his brother said.
According to him, Kebba had made the promise long before he even got married.
Interestingly, despite his admiration for Yamal, Kebba is a devoted Bayern Munich fan.
“He is a Bayern Munich fan, but he likes Lamine Yamal a lot,” his brother added.
The newborn’s name is a testament to the growing admiration for the Barcelona star among football fans in The Gambia.
