Brussels Airlines has suspended all flights to and from African countries including The Gambia, where it has a branch.

The popular airline announced that international flights will be suspended from 21st March until 19th April.

It said flight schedules will be gradually decreased this week, to reach a temporary full suspension of the flights by Saturday.

The Belgian carrier’s CEO Dieter Vranckx disclosed: “We will continuously monitor the situation and communicate accordingly, planning a restart of our operations on 20 April to welcome our guests onboard again.”

He added: “As a responsible company, we need to take the decision to temporarily cease our operations. It will allow us to reduce the negative financial impact on our company. “

The airline, which is already severely and negatively affected by the Coronavirus, is in discussion with the Belgian government with regards to support.
