A tailor has been arrested and detained at Busumbala Police Station over the alleged rape of one of his apprentices, What’s On-Gambia has learnt.
According to a source, the alleged incident occurred at the tailor’s workshop after he reportedly sent the 15-year-old apprentice to his room under the pretext of taking his clothes there.
“She was learning tailoring at his workshop. One day, he allegedly sent her to his room under the pretext of taking his clothes there. He allegedly followed her and raped her in the room,” the source claimed.
The source further disclosed that the alleged incident only came to light about five months later, when the girl’s family reportedly discovered that she was pregnant.
The matter was reported to the police on October 27, leading to the tailor’s arrest and detention at Busumbala Police Station.
