Mustapha Bittaye, husband of Olympian Gina Bass, has reportedly divorced his first wife just months after marrying the famous sprinter. 

A source close to the couple revealed that Mustapha's previous marriage ended seven months ago, leaving Gina as his only spouse.

The first wife, who hails from a prominent family in the North Bank Region, works as a nurse at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital. The divorce is said to have been amicable, with both parties moving on peacefully.

Mustapha now devotes much of his time to supporting Gina's athletic career. The couple's relationship began in 2017 during the NAYCONF in Basse, but their initial plans to marry were delayed due to religious differences. 

They eventually got married in October 2023 and Gina converted to Islam. Since then, Mustapha has accompanied her on her travels, with the couple recently spending over a month in Paris before traveling to Poland for the 2024 Diamond League. 

Mustapha, a GFF-certified referee, frequently shares his admiration for Gina on social media, often posting photos of her and praising her as a "shining star in the world of athletics."
