Former model Yama Faye, also known as Empress Fayer, is now a spiritual life coach on a mission to help young women get where they want to go.
According to her, she started her spiritual journey nine years ago in New York, USA.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Fayer said: “I intend, and it is my desire, to create a path for women who have never felt at home in themselves. I desire to create a path for women who feel ostracised in society. Women who feel like scapegoats or underdogs or black sheep of their family.”
She disclosed she went through a lot of challenges during her childhood in The Gambia, which she said messed up some of her dreams.
”I never had a direction, support, and the environment,” said Fayer.
The former Ndow’s Comprehensive student, who was once married to Afro-manding singer Jali Madi Kanuteh, was a well-known model who walked on the runways of fashion shows in the USA.
Fayer contributed significantly to breaking barriers for other Gambian women in the modeling industry.
