CONFIRMED: Nfally Fadera is the most famous young journalist in The Gambia

He is highly respected for his Mandinka news reading prowess. Nfally Fadera is a renowned name in The Gambia.

The famous young journalist is never the one to ‘beat the drum’ about his abilities. He simply does his job quietly and with dignity and honesty.

“My gandmum bought a radio because she enjoys listening to Nfally,” said Auntie Jarju in Brikama.

Baba Ceesay in Brufut also said: “Nfally is the best. I am still struggling to accept the fact that he is a small boy. I really love him.”

Nfally’s Wularoo Kibaroo is one of the most listened programs on radio. According to him, the program is aimed at helping people understand what is going on in the country.

Childhood and early life

·        He was born in Niumi Jokadu and moved to Wellingara at the age of two

·        He attended Sinchu Baliya Primary School

·        He enrolled at the University of The Gambia  from where he earned his B.A in Political Science

Career

·        After completing his senior secondary education, he bagged a job with Taranga FM

·        In 2011, he was promoted to head the Mandinka News Department

·        He moved to Star FM in 2012

·        He teamed up with his colleagues at the University of The Gambia to start the magazine, Beyond the Cover

·        He co-started Gamvibes, one of the most controversial talk shows on radio

·        As a journalist he met a lot of prominent people

Achievements

·        He was the Secretary General of the University of The Gambia’s Students’ Union from 2013 to 2014

·        In January 2014, he was named among the country’s top 10 journalists by Standard Newspaper

·        He produces and broadcast a daily news podcast on Soundcloud that recorded a staggering 14,000 plays in the last seven days
