Gambian rap star Big Faa has received strong backing from fans after abruptly walking out of an Eye Africa TV interview during a heated exchange with two presenters.
Big Faa was reportedly invited to discuss his upcoming album launch concert, set for November 21 at Motherland in Senegambia. However, the interview took a different turn when the presenters focused their questions on a previous concert he held with Senegalese rapper Ngaaka Blinde.
The line of questioning appeared to frustrate the rapper, who questioned whether he had been invited to the programme to be ridiculed.
Big Faa then ended the interview and walked away from the set.
A clip of the encounter has since circulated on TikTok, triggering a wave of reactions from fans, many of whom defended the rapper’s decision to leave.
One commenter wrote:
“Yen da ngen ova yabateh sah. But I blame Big Faa for even coming there.”
Another commenter blamed the incident on broader issues within the local music industry, writing:
“This is the main reason our music industry is in bad shape.”
Some fans also called on the management of Eye Africa TV to take action against the two presenters, with some demanding that they be sacked.
The incident has added another talking point to the build-up to Big Faa’s upcoming album launch, which the rapper is positioning as a major event.
