A Gambian man living in Germany is at the center of a shocking relationship scandal after allegedly dumping the woman he married online the moment he finally met her in person.
According to an anonymous message sent to What’s On-Gambia by someone claiming to be the man’s brother, the drama began years ago when the man moved to Germany, leaving behind a wife and two children in The Gambia. The source claims he rarely sent money home or visited his family until the marriage eventually collapsed.
The brother alleges that in 2018 the man started a new relationship with a woman he met on Facebook. The pair reportedly stayed married online for six years before finally meeting face-to-face. But the long-distance love story reportedly ended almost immediately.
“He told her she was too fat and that he didn’t like her body,” the brother claimed, adding that the man quickly divorced her after the long-awaited meeting.
But the accusations don’t stop there.
The brother also claims the man has been involved with several other women in Europe, including a woman from Sierra Leone whom he allegedly promised marriage before abruptly ending the relationship. Another woman from Zimbabwe reportedly became pregnant during their relationship before he allegedly disappeared.
Frustrated after trying to talk sense into him, the brother said he decided to go public in hopes of warning others.
“I have tried to sit him down and talk to him, but he doesn’t listen,” the message said. “I just want women in The Gambia and Germany to be careful.”
