The Anti-Crime Unit has launched a search for two men who allegedly jumped police bail after their arrest at a guest house in Fajara.

According to police sources, officers received a report on June 14 from employees of the guest house alleging that two men, believed to be in their late twenties, rented a room and were suspected of engaging in homosexual activity.

Following the report, a team from the Anti-Crime Unit based in Banjulinding was dispatched to the scene. Officers entered the room and arrested the two men, who were reportedly found wearing only their underwear.

The suspects were later granted police bail and instructed to report back the following day. However, police said they failed to honour the bail conditions by not returning as directed.

Investigators subsequently contacted the surety who guaranteed their release. The surety reportedly told officers that he did not know the couple’s whereabouts.

Police said the surety has been given time to locate the two men. Failure to produce them may result in legal action in accordance with the bail bond conditions.

The search for the suspects is ongoing.
