Former GRTS presenter, Alh. Essa Jallow has joined the newly established political party, Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC).

Essa is the party’s Press Secretary.

He left GRTS in 2001 to further his education in the United Kingdom after a nine year career with the national broadcaster.

The Brikama-born is widely described as one of the country’s finest veteran broadcast journalist.

Essa, who once worked as an English Language teacher shortly after graduating from Muslim High School, is from one of the most influential Fula families in Kombo Central.

It is the country’s newest party, founded by former National Assembly Member for Jimara, Mamma Kandeh. According to sources close to GDC, most of the party’s executive members are prominent young people.
