Gambia gets first-ever online job market

Employers and job seekers in The Gambia now have an online market place in Gamjobs.com. The first-ever job web portal in the country is dedicated to publishing job vacancies and supporting job seekers in their job search online, said Modou NS Njie, who co-created the website with Ebrima Dem.

Njie, the chief technical officer for Gamjobs.com added: “This job portal will allow employers to easily place ads of their job openings and also access résumés of registered professionals online. Through the Gamjobs.com, jobseekers can also browse for jobs based on their areas of interest and post their CVs online where they can be accessed, viewed and downloaded only by registered employers. The website also has job search tips, interview tips and career counselling documents for free download by users.”

Mr. Ebrima Dem, chief executive officer of gamjobs.com, spoke to The Standard about the motivation for coming up with the web job portal.

He explained: “Anytime I read vacancies in The Gambia, it is mostly on international websites. This in most cases is meant for international professionals and many local qualified jobseekers do miss out on certain job opportunities. With the coming of Gamjobs.com, we hope to connect jobseekers and job providers.”
