We’re not sure if fashion designers like Yaws Conateh would be happy with this news, but the fact is that Aisha Faal has decided to quit modeling.

The young beauty is now a hijabi!

She was one of the most sought after home-based models. Aisha has appeared in almost all the reputable fashion shows in the country. Her beautiful dark-skin always captured people’s attention on the runway.

Like most young girls, Aisha saw modeling as a ticket to fame. Her photos were regularly used to promote events like Fashion Week Gambia.

Seemingly, most of her friends are happy with her decision to cover up and adhere to Muslim dress. Aisha now wants to be a good example, and avoid suffering ‘God’s wrath’.

Maimuna Sallah, who is also a hijabi, wrote on Facebook: “Just having the audacity to make the decision of putting on the hijab is uplifting and empowering. One of the most fulfilling moments. May Allah SWT make it easy for you.”

Babou Ibn Omar Njie added: “Waaw..MaaShaaAlllah! Modesty is always beautiful”

But Aisha’s former colleague in the modeling industry, Jainaba Ceesay was not very convinced.

Responding to critics, the former model said: “Those who pray for your downfall are concentrating negative thoughts towards you, without taking cognisance of the slippery ground in which they are standing, which could lead to their downfall.I don't owe anybody an explanation, if you think its fashion, sa helat amga si ryt, if you think I did it teh yallah reka tahh mashaallah sa helat rafetna teh nga yoka nyan yallah japaleh masi. Alhamdoulillah Santa yallah Bem bari ak Hepp nak.”
