“I’m the shopkeeper who refused to sell cigarettes”

Abdou Rahman is possibly the only shopkeeper in Kombo Central who refused to have cigarettes in his shop.

“I think smoking is dangerous and we should all fight against it,” he told What’ On-Gambia.

Abdou Rahman continued: “Since I was young, my father advised me to stay away from cigarettes. I don’t sell cigarettes and my customers respect my decision.”

Last year, the campaign “Smoke Free Gambia” was launched by the Minister of Health, Omar Sey. It was disclosed during the launching ceremony that cigarette smoking was in the increase among young Gambians.
