A young man has raised eyebrows after naming his tourist taxi “Baltasar” – in honor of Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the nephew of Equatorial Guinea’s president who was at the center of a sex tape scandal last year.
Baltasar became infamous after leaked videos showed him with multiple women, many of them wives and relatives of powerful figures in Malabo. Despite the scandal, many young Gambians openly admire him for what they see as his “sexual conquests.”
Currently serving an eight-year prison sentence for embezzlement, Baltasar was formerly head of Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency.
Investigators revealed he had diverted millions for personal use, with much of the corruption exposed during probes into his leaked tapes.
A source, who spotted the tourist taxi, questioned why anyone would celebrate a man widely known for promiscuity and corruption.
Although Baltasar has never set foot in The Gambia, his notoriety spread quickly through social media. Many still have his tapes saved on theirmobile phones.
