Modou Barrow, Steve and Hamza back for their country!

Three of The Gambia's most prominent international footballers have returned to the national team as the country fights to qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Modou Barrow, Steve and Hamza Barry were dropped earlier this year after an undisclosed row with the Gambia Football Federation (GFF).

But now it seems the trio and GFF are on good terms.

They were among the foreign-based stars who were invited for The Gambia's AFCON qualifiers against Angola and DR Congo.

Shortly after their exciting 2-2 draw with DR Congo at the Independence Stadium on Monday, Steve took to Instagram and told his 22,000 followers: "Always an honour to represent my country and it’s been great two games with the squad."

He continued: "Thanks to the fans for the continuous support, we’ll build on these results to achieve our goals. Together we’re stronger. For The Gambia, Our Homeland."

Modou Barrow also wrote on Instagram: “Nice to be back to the national team."

One of his followers, Boy Susso commented: "This is what we were waiting for! Nice to see you back bro and all the best."

Many Gambian football enthusiasts are optimistic that the country will qualify for the 2021 AFCON, which is expected to take place in Cameroon.
