Ramatoulie wants to become a gynecologist. She said her family would be very proud of her if she manages to enter Oxford.
“Neither of my parents has been to school. I come from a very large family, my dad has four wives.”
The Yundum girl was among the top ten students in the 2013 Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GABECE). She scored aggregate 9.
Her vice principal said it’s been great to see her blossom into one of most intelligent students in the country.
“She is very hard working. The first time I saw her exam papers, I told my colleagues that she is someone to watch out for.”
Ramatoulie said she has to make many sacrifices to stay on top, including spending less free time with her family and friends. But, she said it is very necessary.
