Parents plan to sue Marina International over death of their daughter

The parents of a 10-year-old Marina International pupil, who died after falling from the assembly stage while playing with her friends, are planning to sue the school for gross negligence.

Aji Fatou Khan was confirmed dead by doctors at the Serre Kunda General Hospital in Kanifing.

Her father, Ali Khan disclosed to What's On-Gambia: "We are seriously considering dragging Marina International School to court for their gross negligence."

He further revealed: "When Aji Fatou fell from the stage, they took her to the sickbay, where she was left lying until when we came. Why didn't they rush her to the MRC, just a stone's throw from the school? This is one of the many questions we are still asking."

Ali said when he arrived at the school, his daughter, who was previously happy and healthy, was unresponsive but breathing.

"As a nurse myself for 30 years, I can confirm that she was clinically death on my arrival."

Marina International is still mute on the circumstances surrounding the accident that led to the death of Aji Fatou, one of the smartest young girls in their school.
