It seems Gambian women are doing everything possible to boost their sex drive, and keep their partners more interested in them.  

They’re now using Pastille Valda, a drug used to treat cough, to improve their sexual performance in bed. That’s a bit weird, innit?

A former user told What’s On-Gambia that it helps to relieve vaginal dryness during sex. According to her Pastille Valda is widely used by young girls.

She said: “I have used it in the past. You insert it in your private part before sex. It melts and increases heat and moisture. To be honest, I don’t see anything special in Pastille Valda and that is why I stopped it.”

A Gambian girl living in the United States also told What’s On-Gambia that one of her friends was once advised to use Pastille Valda.

“Her sister told her, because she thinks it can help to keep her sex life alive in her marriage. Some women who undergo Female Genital Mutilation struggle to get orgasm and some men find that uncomfortable.”  

But how safe is it to use Pastille Valda? According to medical practitioners, it can cause bacterial inflammation in the urinary tract.
