A wedding party in Kerr Sering was thrown into chaos last Friday after police stormed the event and pulled a 15-year-old bride out of the celebration, What’s On-Gambia has learned.
According to a source, the groom – a married man with children – was preparing to take the teenager as his second wife. “Someone tipped off the police, and they rushed in and rescued the girl,” the source revealed.
In a twist that angered some, no one was arrested. The young girl was instead whisked away to the children’s shelter in Bakoteh.
“Marrying a minor is illegal! An example must be made so this madness stops. The police should question everyone who arranged this wedding,” the source insisted.
It is still unclear whether the police will pursue further action in the case.
