Singateh’s new single, Fa Kebba has struck a chord with thousands of Gambian music lovers.
That’s right, in three days the single received more than 11,000 hits on the audio distribution platform, SoundCloud. It is even more than Gee’s Yallah Bahna – a song that features Nigerian superstar, Wizkid.
Fa Kebba, a song about illegal migration, was released last week shortly after hundreds of migrants were reportedly killed when their boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea.
In a chat with What’s On-Gambia, Singateh said: “It is a song that delivers a message to young people who think it is easy to make money in Europe. Gambians are dying every day in their attempt to reach Italy.”
The award-winning singer continued: “I am not condemning those who made it to Europe. My advice is – no matter what they are going through, it’s going to be ok.”
Singateh is currently on a European tour. On Saturday, 2nd May he will be in Bremen, Germany. From there he will proceed to England, where he is expected to perform in Birmingham and London.
