The final message written by Sise Jaha Sawaneh a few days before her death appealed for an end to communal and caste conflicts in the Upper River Region. 

The outspoken journalist and peace activist, who was in the Upper River Region to help promote dialogue for peace and reconciliation, wrote on Facebook: "There is so much we can do, there is so much we can give, there is so much we can contribute and there is so much we can discuss at community level."

She continued: "For the past two decades, I have been celebrated by many and now, it’s time to give back. Your daughter is here for a peace talk and I hope we will have a fruitful discussion together."

Muhammed Saho in Glasgow, United Kingdom also wrote: "I wish I am there. We will have a colourful discussion with our community. All the best." 

Sise died when a car in which she was travelling was involved in an accident. She was on her way to Jarra Soma to watch a football match. 

She was killed together with a young politician, Papa Touray and his brother. Thousands including senior government officials turned out for their burial last week in Kanifing.
