A UK-based Gambian woman recently took to Twitter to reveal that a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of The Gambia threatened to upload a nude photo of her on the internet.
In a letter to the Gambia Bar Association, she wrote: "I would like to bring to your attention the distasteful conduct of a registered legal practitioner who was recently admitted to the Bar of The Gambia."
She alleged the lawyer, whose name she didn't reveal, sent her a message via social media threatening to expose "an alleged private sexual photograph of her on a public domain, with the intention of causing her harm or distress".
"Not only is this a threat to breach my privacy rights but the content of the message also exhibit a deeply ingrained misogynist view towards women."
The president of the Gambia Bar Association, Salieu Taal said he has forwarded her complaint to their complaints committee for appropriate action.
It's not yet clear whether the young woman was in a romantic relationship with the lawyer.
