Sweden: Gambian travel agent who duped his fellow countrymen is under investigation

It’s been a difficult holiday season for some Gambians in Sweden who say they were duped out of air tickets through a travel agency own by a Gambian businessman (name withheld) living in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Last week, a family showed up at the Bromma Airport, Stockholm for their flight, only to find out they were not paid for.

According to reports reaching What’s On-Gambia, possibly more than 15 people were duped. It is not yet confirmed whether they were provided with receipts.

“I heard this elderly man went to the airport with his grand children and when he got the information that they were not on the list of those travelling with Brussels Airlines, he almost collapsed,” said our source.

According to our source the businessman, who is afraid of facing his angry customers, is currently hospitalized at one of the major hospitals in Gothenburg.

Our source added: “His business recently declared bankruptcy (konkurs in Swedish), and he felt the wise thing to do is to steal from his fellow countrymen. The police are currently investigating the matter. I don’t know if Brussel Airlines is aware.”

What’s On-Gambia is still investigating….
