The Gambia’s leading comedy group, Team Kitabu D Comedian, is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary with a special award night at the prestigious Kairaba Beach Hotel’s Jama Hall.
According to a Facebook post by the group, the event, scheduled for October 24, will be a celebration of the team’s achievements and journey since its emergence on The Gambia’s comedy scene.
“We come together to honor the actors, filmmakers, comedians, crew, supporters, and everyone who has been part of this incredible journey,” the group said.
Team Kitabu has already invited dozens of prominent Gambians and personalities to grace the occasion, including international footballer Yankuba Minteh, Kerr Fatou CEO Fatou Touray, businesswoman and entrepreneur Rinna’s Skincare, TikTok star Ziggi, and many others.
Team Kitabu D Comedian was founded by popular comedian Kitabu Fatty, who began his entertainment career at a young age. He later secured a show on the national broadcaster, GRTS, where he quickly rose to fame and became a household name.
Over the years, Kitabu established his own comedy group and helped introduce and mentor dozens of young talents in the comedy and entertainment industry.
Today, Team Kitabu is regarded as the country’s leading comedy group, attracting millions of views on YouTube and other digital platforms. Despite limited support from the government and major businesses, the group has continued to grow and achieve milestones that few could have anticipated.
The upcoming award night is expected to bring together entertainers, media personalities, business leaders, supporters and fans to celebrate Team Kitabu’s 15-year contribution to comedy and entertainment in The Gambia.
