A European woman has shared her emotional experience with What’s On-Gambia, detailing how a Gambian police officer broke her heart and shattered her trust in local men.
According to the woman, the relationship began after the officer assisted her with a ”matter”. Grateful for his help, she agreed to stay in contact, which soon developed into a romantic relationship.
“He made me believe he loved me and wanted to marry me,” she said. “He was very persistent about building a future together, even when I tried to end things several times.”
She claimed that every time she blocked him, he would find other ways to reach her, either through his friends or by calling her directly from new numbers.
“During our short relationship, many strange situations seemed to happen to him,” she added. “He often called me on video, crying and begging for financial help. Out of compassion, I sent him money.”
However, she later discovered that much of what he told her was untrue. Feeling deceived and emotionally drained, she ended the relationship. When she attempted to report the situation to the Police Headquarters, she says she received no response.
Now, she says her experience has left her deeply distrustful.
“He broke my heart,” she concluded. “And it’s hard to believe in any Gambian man again after this.”
