The United Democratic Party (UDP) will hold their much talked about Congress from December 7-9, according to information reaching What’s On-Gambia.
Hundreds of delegates from the different regions of the country, including officials in the Diaspora, will meet at the Paradise Suites.
They are expected to re-elect Ousainou Darboe as their leader. The delegates will also elect a new cohort of officials to help prepare the party for the next presidential election.
Darboe, who is currently the vice president of the republic, is likely to emerge from the congress even more formidable.
A source disclosed that some executive members, including President Adama Barrow’s aides, Lamin Cham and Yusupha Cham, are expected to be kicked out of the party.
The newly elected leader will present his lineup at a mass rally at the Buffer Zone on December 9.
