The Inspector General of Police, Momar Jobe has inaugurated the first police station in Busumba - a village in the West Coast Region that is well known for violence.
The new police station, which has already started operations, is expected to keep the people safe and prevent crime and public disorder in the village.
Police PRO Superindentant Lamin Njie told What's On-Gambia: "the establishment of the station in Busumbala is in the drive to make the police accessible. It's a community-oriented initiative."
He continued: "The community played a significant role in the establishment of the station."
Busumbala is widely believed to be the most violent village in the West Coast Region.
Sometime last year, a 51-year-old father was mercilessly beaten by residents of the village accusing him of kidnapping his own children.
