What’s happening in The Gambia: December 19th to January 2nd

If you’re wondering what events to attend you’ve come to the right place. Get ready as the festive season gets into full swing across the Greater Banjul Area.

The country’s top rapper,Gee is launching his newest album, Situations on the 19th December at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. He is planning to end the year with a huge bang.

“The main guest artist is Jamaica’s Demarco. The stadium gates will be open at 7PM. Let’s go out and support Gambian music,” said a member of Team Gee.

There will also be live music from local artists, including Manding Morry, Jali Madi, ST and others.

Prefer an indoor event? Never fear, there is plenty happening. Manding Morry is also launching his new album, Dokuwolomon the 20th December at the famous Jaama Hall, Kairaba Beach Hotel.

But we know for many of you fashion will be on the agenda in the coming days. At the Paradise Suites on the 28th December, Fabs Fashion Cosmetics USA will be launching their products in the country. It is the first cosmetics line by a Gambian.

The owner of Fabs Fashion Cosmerics, Fatou Cham Jallow told What’s On-Gambia: “It is free to come in and try our products. There will also be performances by Gambians artists like Jali Madi and Abou ak Fafa. Everyone is invited!”

Elsewhere, in the Senegambia strip, the country’s only masquerade splash party is also heating up. Put on your masks and head to the Cristal Lounge on New Year’s Day.

Don’t worry if you've never done a masquerade party before, Veron John and her friends will guide you through. There will also be DJs spinning hit tunes until early in the morning.

“It is going to be a massive party. We are inviting both locals and tourists,” said Veron.
