The mother-of-one disappeared last month, less than 48 hours after moving into her Europe-based husband’s newly built house in Brusubi.
Mariama’s disappearance – a timeline
January 30 – Mariama Balajo moved into her husband’s newly built house in Brusubi. The couple have a son together.
January 31 – Hours before her husband arrived from Europe, Mariama left the house to buy some groceries. She never returned.
February 1 – Mariama’s family reported her missing.
February 1 – February 15 – The family looked for her everywhere, but she was nowhere to be found.
February 21 – Her husband, who arrived in the country on January 31, returned to Europe without seeing her.
February 28 – The family received information that Mariama was in Ziguinchor. The circumstances of why she went missing or how she was found are still unknown.
