Organisers are busy putting the final touches on the second edition of the Smiling Coast Carnival which takes place this weekend from the 5th to 7th January.
In an interview with What’s On- Gambia, the founder and coordinator of the carnival, Waka Jagne of Waka J VIP Promotions disclosed preparations for the showcase are at an advanced stage.
There are a variety of local and foreign entertainers that will be coming to participate in this year’s edition of the Smiling Coast Carnival.
According to Waka, the three-day event is a platform that brings together people to celebrate Gambian culture.
Here is the full program
Friday, 5th January (8 pm – 2 am):Sabarr and cultural night at the Duplex Strip, Senegambia. It’s an outdoor event, free for everyone. The sabarr will be performed by Mbaye Gueye Faye’s brother, Baye Demba Faye.
Saturday, 6th January (10 pm to 4 am):Musical jamboree and All White Party at Club Cavali featuring both local and international musicians.
Sunday, 7th January (3 pm to 10 pm): Carnival parade featuring different cultural groups, masquerades and live music at the Duplex Strip. It’s going to be very family friendly with food on sale, BBQ and a bouncy castle for kids.
