A backway semester was on Sunday beaten mercilessly by residents of Dalaba Estate for allegedly attempting to rape a young woman.

In a video that was sent to What's On-Gambia, an eyewitness disclosed: "He wanted to rape the girl because she's la ight-skinned beauty."

The semester's legs were tied with a rope and he was mercilessly thrashed by a group of youngsters, who later handed him over to the police.

A source revealed: "I don't know what exactly happened. But they claimed the guy was found forcing himself on the young woman."

The semester is among the throngs of Diaspora Gambians who are in the country to enjoy the holiday season. Some of them live in apartments in the Senegambia Strip.
