Backway boy arrested at his own wedding

A backway boy in Austria didn’t have the best wedding day after he was arrested shortly before exchanging vows with his beautiful Austrian bride.

Kebba Colley, who entered Europe via the Mediterranean, was arrested on Friday as family members and friends gathered at a venue in Salzburg for the ceremony.

His bride told journalists: “This is wrong. The authorities knew for months that we were getting married and they didn’t say anything against it. The plainclothes police officers invaded the venue as we were busy taking photos.”

She added: “My life has been turned upside down. My two children love him like a father. I hope he would come home soon.”

A Gambian, who claimed to know the couple, told What’s On-Gambia: “Kebba came to Europe through the backway. He stayed in Italy for a while before moving to Austria. He is a nice guy. Most of us were shocked when we heard about his arrest.”

When asked whether Kebba would be deported to The Gambia, he responded: “I don’t think so. I heard he has Italian papers and that means they would send him back to Italy, not The Gambia.”
