President Adama Barrow has become the first president in Gambian history to have a national fans club.
Sources revealed to What’s On-Gambia that the famous presidential adviser, Dou Sanno is the founder of the fans club. They want to keep Barrow in power past 2021.
Named after him, the fans club frequently holds meetings to express their support for the Gambian leader whom they labelled a hero for ending Jammeh’s 22-year-old rule.
Adviser Dou once told his colleagues that Barrow’s former party, UDP is their biggest enemy and they should do everything possible to crush them before the 2021 presidential election.
“APRC is not our enemy. GDC is not our enemy. GMC is not our enemy. NRP is not our enemy. PDOIS is not our enemy, GPDP is not our enemy. NCP is not our enemy. Our enemy is UDP.”
Other prominent members of the fans club include the governor of West Coast Region, Musa Susso and former UDP regional chairman, Lamin Jatta.
The fans club, which is yet to be inaugurated, is said to be expanding at an unprecedented rate not only in the Greater Banjul Area but across The Gambia. With each passing day, more and more people are jumping on the bus and are showing their support for the president.
During a meeting with some of his fans at the State House, Barrow said his critics are scared that when he completes his development projects, it would be hard to defeat him at the next presidential election.
