The New York-based Gambian migrants from the town of Brikam in Kombo Central have formed an association called Brikama Association in New York.

In addition to promoting unity and solidarity among themselves, the association seeks to support worthy causes in Brikama, one of the country’s most populated towns.

They recently organised a fundraising BBQ at the Cartona Park in New York. It attracted dozens of Brikama citizens and also the general public, mostly Gambians in the USA.

Some of the famous members of the Brikama Association in New York include former student unionist, Alhagie Camara and retired nawettan footballer, Mamadi Ceesay.

The association is now registered with the state of New York.
