Buju Banton says Gambians love him

Jamaican superstar, Buju Banton, aka the Gargamel, has disclosed he is loved by Gambians.

In a sit-down interview with prominent Jamaican journalist, Winford Williams, the "Destiny" hitmaker said: "I know West Africa loves reggae music – Ghana, Togo, Senegal and especially The Gambia."

He added: "Them want Buju, them want Bounty, them want Beenie over Gambia."

Buju revealed the first time he visited Africa was in 1999 and he spent most of his time educating Africans about reggae music.

His debut performance in The Gambia in December 2005 was one of the biggest reggae events at the Independence Stadium. He described the country as a "Small Jamaica".

The superstar's first album since being released from prison in the United States in 2018 is expected to drop next month.
